Welcome back after a long weekend!

A couple reminders...

    • Monday, 1/27 - PJ Day...Wear pajama/sweats; may wear slippers (bring change of shoes for outside)!
    • Tuesday, 1/28 - Neon Day…Dress in your craziest, brightest colors.
    • Wednesday, 1/29 - Dress to Impress for Jesus… Wear your fanciest clothes.
    • Thursday, 1/30 - Ultimate Bobcat Spirit Day…Show your Bobcat pride by going all out Zion style.
    • Friday, 1/31 - Sports Day…Dress like you're about to play your favorite sport or show support for your favorite team.
Valentines to give to friends...Our class will have our valentine parties on Wednesday, February 12 and Thursday, February 13. Prior to the parties, each child will be making a valentine bag, at school. Please have your child prepare 21 valentines at home (1 for each child in the class) and bring them on 2/12 or 2/13. See email sent on Friday, 1/17 with additional details and tips!

On to our day...

We had a different check-in this morning. Each friend decided how he/she was feeling today (happy, sad, angry, scared, tired, or excited).  Then wrote his/her name in the correct column!

A few friends were "sad" or "angry" today. We always try to talk about whatever feeling they used, today they just wanted to be with mom or at home ;o) It's hard to come back after an extra day off! Don't worry though, we all had a GREAT day ;o)

A few more friends made "Waffle Snowmen".  While completing the waffle snowmen, they improved their understanding of shapes and had to follow step by step instructions!

We finished up morning meeting today with 8 different crayons...we looked at each one very closely and locked them in our brain. We noticed that all the crayons were different colors! I covered them up with a towel and took 1 or 2 items away.  What was missing??? Recognizing and recalling is an early cognitive ability.

Happy 1/2 Birthday Luke! Thank you for sharing your special day with us!

We FINALLY had a chance to reread the letter from Mrs. Fish's class, write her back, and deliver it!!!

When the actual temps are in the single digits...all of Zion has indoor recess!!!

We enjoyed a book that helped us to understand why there was no school yesterday.  We learned that Martin Luther King Jr. had a very important dream.  We too can have dreams that will hopefully one day come true!

We then read a fun book all about groundhog day! We are hoping when groundhog day rolls around that he has some good news for us, and spring will be on it's way!

SURPRISE...we had a "take your pick Tuesday"! Check out a few of our choices...

YES!!! We were excited that basketballs were out for our large motor time fun, in the gym...

During Jesus Time today Zippy talked to us about baptism and why do we use water, when we've already had a bath? These are the waters of baptism that wash away our sins and welcome us into God's family!!!

Have a great night...
