Welcome back as we begin our Monday in preschool!

Two quick reminders...

National Lutheran Schools Week (NLSW) is being celebrated this week, January 27 - 31. Part of NLSW fun every year is getting to have dress up days! So, continuing that tradition, check out what’s in store for 2025…
    • Tuesday, 1/28 - Neon Day…Dress in your craziest, brightest colors.
    • Wednesday, 1/29 - Dress to Impress for Jesus… Wear your fanciest clothes.
    • Thursday, 1/30 - Ultimate Bobcat Spirit Day…Show your Bobcat pride by going all out Zion style.
    • Friday, 1/31 - Sports Day…Dress like you're about to play your favorite sport or show support for your favorite team.
Valentines to give to friends...Our class will have our valentine parties on Wednesday, February 12 and Thursday, February 13. Prior to the parties, each child will be making a valentine bag, at school. Please have your child prepare 21 valentines at home (1 for each child in the class) and bring them on 2/12 or 2/13. See email sent on Friday, 1/17 with additional details and tips!

Here we go...

Yippee for PJ Day...SMILE...

And...be a little SILLY!!!!

For NLSW, every student as Zion is coloring a foot that reads "I will walk with Jesus". Then, all of these feet will soon be used in a display in Zion church! Stop by in the coming weeks to check it out...

It was time to see what we remember about positional words!  I had 6 cards, each with a different positional word.  Friends got to "pick a card, any card".  I would read the card aloud and he/she would place his/her body in relation to Luke, our messenger for the day!

Oh what fun we had doing some gymnastics for large motor time!!!

Today we introduced the letter "D" and number "4"!

We remembered start your letter "at the top" then big line down, big curve to write a "D" and little line down, little line across, and big line down to write a "4"! Then we came up with words that start with "D" and found "4's" around the room!

Anytime one of our friends thinks of a word that starts with "D" we can add it to our big letter.  Or, if at home, your child sees a small picture or item that starts with a "D", bring it in and he/she can tape it to our big letter!

Then we practiced writing "D" and "4" with crayons (nice and short to reinforce proper grip)!

As it nears closer to Valentine's day, we discussed the people that we love!  Here are a few we have so far...we will add more tomorrow!

Time for small groups (centers)!

With me we used candy hearts to create patterns. I did my best to only observe as I continue working on 3rd quarter portfolio items!  The ability to recognize and create patterns is an early math skill!  Success for many was creating a pattern on his/her own. Success for some was me starting the pattern and him/her continuing it.

It's beginning to look a lot like Valentine's Day!  We strengthened the finger, wrist, and hand muscles as we cut out paper hearts and decorated them!

With Mrs. Fahey we worked on recognizing/identifying lowercase letters and then creating that letter with wood pieces as an uppercase letter!  (Early literacy skills)

We had a little time to head outside for the first time in a while...and we were SO EXCITED since this was the first time for bikes since before Christmas!!!!!!!

During Jesus time today Zippy helped us remember all about opposites. But, the biggest that we learned...the opposite of sin is forgiveness!

Have a great rest of your Monday!
