Thank you for joining us as we begin a new week of preschool!
There is NO school on Wednesday, 10/11 - Friday, 10/13 for a teacher’s conference.
Preschool is singing at church...our class (together with Mrs. Thomas’s PS class) is singing at Zion Lutheran Church at the 5:00 pm service on Saturday, October 21. Please join us for worship and to hear little ones sing praise to Jesus! Please arrive at 4:45 pm and meet in the welcome center (just outside the sanctuary). Your child will sing at the beginning of the service and will then join you for the rest of worship.
Here we go...
We were so excited to see magnatiles out for the first time this year...squares and triangles of different sizes with magnets inside each edge! Not only are we improving knowledge of 2D shapes, we get to create up and or out to learn about 3D shapes! Understanding and recognizing shapes is an early math skill!
Our bakery, "Mudd's Munchies" was also open for business...time to "bake" some goodies and sell them to customers!
We love to read...we may not be reading the words, but we are learning how to use a book correctly, crossing the midline, and using pictures as clues to tell us what the story is about!
Happy Birthday BB! Thank you for sharing your special day with us!
To finish up morning meeting we worked on quantifying, identifying numbers, and understanding positional words. One friend would roll the dice and tell the class how many dots they rolled. He/she would then find that number on the paper. I would read the word and then...
Silas is "under" the chair...
Colton is "between" Chase and the chair...
Baylor is "beside" the chair...
Everley is "in front of" the chair...
BB is "on" the chair...
Chapel today was led by Mrs. Lohman. We talked a lot about promises, and how often times they are broken. But we can trust that God always keeps His promises!!!

Last week we read "Those Darn Squirrels" and took a look at many different materials that we will use to create our very own squirrel proof bird feeders. We thought about and explored our resources, using them in different ways to see how we could build a bird feeder. Each friend (not here yesterday) then drew a "blueprint" of the bird feeder he/she will attempt to build next week!
Off for some large motor time on the preschool playground...

Time for small groups (centers)!
During Phase 1 of our food project, we often wonder "how" or "why" about many things food related. So, each friend had a chance to tell me what he/she wonders about food. I took dictation to compile a list of questions, everything we want to know about food!
With Mrs. Lorenz...time to get a little MESSY again!!! We got to practicing writing the letters N - T in flour (another item we use to make different foods).
We worked the finger, wrist and hand muscles (used for writing) weaving laces in and out of lacing cards.
Uh oh...our ice cream cones were missing their scoops of ice cream. Each cone had a # (1 - 10) on it, if it had a 2, our friends would place 2 scoops of ice cream on top! If a cone had an 10, time to add 10 scoops! Our friends loved making the TALL ice cream cones!!! (Identifying numbers and connecting them with their quantities is an early math skill). Success for some was working with 1 - 5, for others 1 - 10). Some friends even decided to work together, helping each other count the correct number of ice cream scoops!
Round number 2 of large motor time...
