Wow! We had a busy Tuesday in preschool!

A few reminders first...

12:00 Dismissal this Thursday, December 22…School will dismiss at 12:00 on this day to begin Christmas Break. There is NO half day care option, please make arrangements to pick up your child at 12:00 this day. We will not be eating lunch at preschool, but we will have morning snack.

There is NO school Friday, December 23 - Tuesday, January 3…blessings on your Christmas Holiday! (school resumes on Wednesday, January 4, 2017).

As Christmas is drawing near, please consider joining us for Christmas Eve or Christmas Day worship services:

On to our day...

Uh oh! Our candy canes were missing their stripes! Each candy cane had a number below it. First, recognize the number. Then strengthen the finger, wrist, and hand muscles forming little "stripes" of playdoh. Finally, add the correct number of stripes to each candy cane!

We might have some future aerospace engineers...they created a couple of fancy airplanes!

Keller and Carter finished coloring the cards that will be attached to a "Christmas tree kit" we made at our party today and then sending to Friends of Kids with Cancer. The kits will be distributed to children that will be spending their holiday season in the hospital.

Jack, with his "thinking cap" on expresses creativity as he paints a Christmas picture!

Josh and Emily explore our wood nativity, wondering if there are other ways it could be set up!

Claire and Brooke turned our puppet theater into a vehicle! Here they are headed EVERYWHERE.

"But Mrs. Mudd, we are going to stop at Disneyland first, then everywhere!"

Owen and Elliot improved hand-eye coordination as they built a dinosaur catcher!

To finish morning meeting we read together "The Very Hungry Reindeer" by Mrs. Smith (currently a Zion 2nd grade teacher). This "spin off" of "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" has this reindeer eating some silly Christmas things...and he turns into...RUDULPH!!!

Chapel today was led by Pastor Rouland and Gary the Puppet (a.k.a Mrs. Rouland)!

Gary arrived all wrapped up in wrapping paper, bows, and lights to tell us the Christmas story. Pastor Rouland was confused, he thought there were much better costumes to tell the Christmas story in! Gary disagreed, he said he was dressed up as the most important part of Christmas. You see in John 1:5 it tells us that Jesus is the light that shines in the darkness. Gary wore lights to remember that Jesus is the light of the world! John 3:16 tells us that God gave His only Son, Jesus. Gary wore paper and bows to remember that Jesus is God's greatest gift to us!

Time for our Christmas Party (#1)!!!

A BIG thank you to Amanda Helmkamp for planning and preparing the party! And also a thank you to those that helped during the party, Christie Johnson, Amber Maddick, and Judy Johnson!

We had a yummy snack, a mix of many things that remind us of Christmas!

While our parent helpers cleaned up from snack we watched/listened to a fun book on the smartboard, "Olive the Other Reindeer"!

Build a Christmas tree!

We put together bags filled with green playdoh and all the "fixins" to build a small Christmas tree. We are so blessed to be able to make one for a child in the hospital and one for each friend to take home to create. These are being donated to Friends of Kids with Cancer to distribute this holiday season to children who won't be home for Christmas this year!

How many jingle bells can you get in the bowl? Drop it from your nose, if it lands in the bowl, touch a jingle bell on the smartboard and it spins. After 2 minutes, time is up and count how many jingle bells they made all together!

As soon as our party ended we "ran" to our next adventure! We joined Miss Bevirt's 3rd grade class for a book that tells the story of the first Christmas night!
