Thank you for joining us on our Wednesday!

Our last few friends spent time on his/her April interview.  He/she told me all about the story of Jesus filling the nets (our Bible story from last week) while I took dictation.  He/she then drew a net and filled that net with little fish (stickers...tiny ones to improve small motor control)!

While the last of the April interviews took place, many other friends worked hard on creating our signs for our pet store, Palace Pets!

They look AWESOME!!!  They will be up for display soon!

It's been awhile since the weather has kept us inside for large motor time!  We enjoyed every minute of it!

I wish you could have been there to see these "touchdown dances" in person!!!

Happy 5th Birthday Reagan!  Thank you for sharing your special day with us!

To wrap up morning meeting we played a super fun game to improve our recalling skills!  One friend hid in the bathroom while another friend was covered up with a blanket.  The friend that was in the bathroom had to try and figure out who was missing.  This is tough to do with this number of friends, but we did GREAT!  And...what was possibly even harder? The friends sitting around the carpet had to use all the self regulation they had to not tell who was hiding under the blanket!

We enjoyed an informational book about ladybugs!  We learned some interesting facts!  The one that surprised all of us...when the larva hatches from it's egg, it eats the eggshell!

Time for small groups (centers)!

We improved our cutting skills as we made an earth day puzzle.  While each friend was cutting I observed and documented his/her scissor cutting skills (proper grasp, thumbs up/down, etc).

We worked as a team or individually to create cages and crates for out pets!  We had some great problem solving taking place!

We improved our writing and drawing skills as we journaled about our favorite pets!

After he/she cut his/her puzzle into pieces, each friend had to put his/her puzzle back together and glue it onto a piece of paper.  Spatial awareness is an early math skill.

Each group was so proud of the cages and crates that they built!!! Aren't they fantastic?

We enjoyed our gym time today as we worked on running as fast as super heroes!

During Jesus Time today we learned that eternity (or eternally) means forever.  Because of Jesus, all believers will someday live eternally with Him in heaven. It will be a blessed and happy place that will never end.  Eternity is forever!!!

We had a great day in preschool!

1 quick reminder...

Week of the Young Child at Zion is May 2nd - 6th!  There are fun activities being planned for the week.  Start planning now for the dress up days to help us celebrate:
    • Movie Monday…PJ day!
    • Taco Tuesday…Silly Sock day!
    • Workout Wednesday…Dress like your favorite sports character!
    • Thankful Thursday…Favorite Color day!
    • Favorite Book Friday…Dress like your favorite storybook character!
We were excited to jump right in and get to work at our pet store!  We were also excited to see that some new pets and grooming tools had arrived over the weekend!  Dramatic play enables children to role play real life situations!

Carter and Connor improved hand-eye coordination and problem solving skills as they built with Interlox!

While others were enjoying free choice time, some friends spent time on his/her April interview.  He/she told me all about the story of Jesus filling the nets (our Bible story from last week) while I took dictation.  He/she then drew a net and filled that net with little fish (stickers...tiny ones to improve small motor control)!

To wrap up morning meeting we voted on a name for our pet store!  Our 2 choices:
"Palace Pets" or "Kid's Critters"

"Palace Pets" ran away with the vote!  This graph was easy for us to see that "Palace Pets" had the most votes!

While the skies were still blue, we enjoyed large motor time outside before going to chapel!

Pastor Reitz led our chapel service today!  He read to us from 1 John..."God is love"! You don't have to use a lot of words for something to be important.  These are 3 of the most important words you will ever hear.  We were reminded to always take care of the things we love!

For science time today we continued working on our ladybug journals.  Most of our larva have moved on to stage 3, pupa. We looked at models and our tiny pupa as each friend drew a picture of stage 3 (pupa) of our ladybugs.  Our pupa won't look like much is happening, but much is taking place inside. In about 7 - 10 day they will emerge as stage 4 (adult ladybugs). We are excited and anxious to see what that looks like as metamorphosis takes place!

Time for small groups (centers)!

With Mrs. Dose, each friend observed his/her 2 bags of beans and drew his/her observations for "day 9" in his/her own "Bean Journal"!  We will continue to watch and journal our beans for another week.  Some aren't doing much but growing mold, while a couple are sprouting and growing!

Oh no!!! Our caterpillar needed some help being put back together!  His body is numbered from 1 - 20, our job was to put him back in order from 1 - 20 or 20 - 1!  Success for some was leading the group, asking for the next number. Success for others was finding the next number and placing it next in our "caterpillar puzzle".

And...small group #3 is TOP SECRET!  Some of you just might get to see what we were up to the end of next week!

And the clouds were rolling in as we ventured outside for large motor time before lunch!
