Not sure how it's possible...but, welcome to November!!!

Two quick reminders...

Thanksgiving Food Drive 2025...Zion's Student Council is organizing the annual Thanksgiving Food Drive for Seminarians and their families. Each grade is assigned certain items, preschool is asked to bring in canned fruits (all varieties) & canned beans (baked, kidney, chili, black, chickpea, pork and beans, french cut green beans, etc). Items will be collected thru Wednesday, November 19 (there is a tote outside the classroom to place donations).

There is NO school Monday, 11/24 - Friday, 11/28…Happy Thanksgiving!

On to our day...

We had a special check-in today..."November My Name"!  While each friend wrote his/her name I took note of pencil grip, copying name or writing name from memory, letter knowledge, etc.  Our friends are getting better and better each month!!!

We noticed that our weather tally sheet now said November and it was empty, and the October pie graph was filled in!  We studied more, less, and the same (equal) as we compared the 3 months we've filled in so far this school year!  Understanding more, less, and the same is an early math skill!

We then finished up morning meeting with Wiggle Worm...he is back!!!  Today he brought with him lowercase letters on cookies.  If wiggle worm was picked from the bag...everybody WIGGLE, then stop!  Having to stop is tough, but it helps us learn self regulation!

If a letter is picked, that friend told everyone the letter name and the letter sound!

Happy Birthday Davie! Thank you for sharing your special day with us...

We completed another observational drawing of the same tree that we did earlier in the year.  Each friend looked to see what was different about the tree since last time.  Then, they drew the tree again and were able to use crayons to show that the leaves are changing colors!

We were loving these mild November temps...we'll enjoy them while we can!!!

Time for small groups (centers)!

With Mrs. Mudd, there were some hungry squirrels looking for an acorn!  Each acorn had a lowercase letter on it and each child had to find the uppercase match on a squirrel!  (Recognizing and identifying letters is an early literacy skill).  Success for some was recognizing the lowercase letter and getting help from a friend to find the uppercase letter.  Success for others was recognizing the lowercase letter and being able to find the uppercase letter on his/her own!

In the block center we planned and worked together to build a farm...

Uh oh, the fruit patterns need to be finished!  Five different patterns were started and each child had to finish the pattern with the correct fruit picture! (Patterning is an early math skill)

We worked on a group piece...creating a beautiful tablecloth to use at our Thanksgiving feast later this month! We each drew pictures of things we are thankful for...

More fun in the November sun!!!

During Jesus time today Zippy visited very worried about a storm that might be coming. We reminded him that God will protect him and keep him safe, just like he protected baby Moses in this weeks bible story!

Have a great night...
