 Happy Friday from Mrs. Mudd's Class!

Blank "canvas" again for the win!!!

Building with friends...sharing different shapes and ideas...

Puzzles are great for strengthening spatial awareness...

Wiggle worms arrived with penguins and lowercase letters!  If a wiggle worm was picked...well, you know...let's wiggle!!! (And, it's still hard to stop when Mrs. Mudd says freeze. Good practice in self regulation)

 If a penguin was picked...give the letter name and the letter sound (early literacy skills).

Mr. Debrick was our guest reader today...he read a perfect book, all about Groundhog's day!!!

Callahan returned the favorite book bag today! He shared with us "We Don't Lose Our Class Goldfish". We loved hearing from Callahan about his favorite part of the book, and seeing his drawings.  We then enjoyed listening as Mrs. Mudd read it to the class.

This activity is one way to encourage the love of reading.  Also, this activity allows the children (and teacher) to be introduced to new books!  Furthermore, it helps to continue to build home and school connections!

We were surprised by all the fog this morning...it was a bit chilly, but we still had the best time outside!

As always...who doesn't LOVE free choice Friday! I know these kiddos do ;o)

Edie drew a picture for her sister and we decided to hand deliver it!!!

Time to run, run, run and ride, ride, ride!

During Jesus Time today we watched a short Saddleback Kids video reminding us of the miracle of Jesus feeding the 5,000. God will always provide for us too!

 And...here we are the first day of February!

Expressing creativity on a blank "canvas" is one our favorite free choice activities...

Dinner with friends is a ton of fun too!

Or, maybe building with friends is a close second!

We quickly noticed during morning meeting that our January pie graph had been filled in!  It was fun to see that in January we had EVERY type of weather! We were so excited that January's pie graph looked very different than all of the others we completed so far this year! One friend mentioned that it was SOOO beautiful...

We LOVED chapel in the church lead by Zion's junior high concert band!

For Science time we read "Just One More Swim" to lead us into one of our centers, discovering what keeps animals warm!

The sun was out and so were we!!! We are excited that the ground is finally starting to dry up after all the snow, ice, and rain...

Time for small groups (centers)!

With Valentine's day around the corner, we talked as a group about "places we love".  Check out what we came up with...

With Mrs. Mudd we each put a bare hand in a bowl of ice water...we counted to 10 to see if we could keep it in there that long...brrr it was cold!

Then I added a bag full of animal fat (crisco), with a plastic bag inside.  Each friend placed his/her hand in the plastic bag, and held again for 10 seconds.  They discovered that the "fat" protected us from the cold water.  Just like the fat on an animal protects them from cold weather/water.

With Mrs. Lorenz, we worked on a 3D project...making snowmen with marshmallows, glue, markers, and toothpicks!  We had so much fun...little did they know they were learning to follow multi-step directions and improving small motor control!

 We had a chance to "read to self"!

Then...off to enjoy the warmer weather, one more time...

Natalia returned the favorite book bag today! She shared with us "Duck & Goose". We loved hearing from Natalis about her favorite part of the book, and seeing her drawings.  We then enjoyed listening as Mrs. Mudd read it to the class.
