Tuesdays are terrific in preschool!
Two quick reminders...
End of Year Celebration at the Park…Join me (and all preschool classes) on Thursday, May 19 from 5:30 - 6:30 pm at Veterans Tribute Park on Kisker Rd. A fun way to wrap up another great school year with other preschool families at Zion!
The last day of school for preschool is Wednesday, May 25.
On to our day...
While others enjoyed free choice time...
Each friend began his/her day with a special check-in! Each child completed his/her "May My Name" for his/her portfolio. Each friend was given the choice if he/she wanted to write first and last name or just first name. While each friend wrote his/her name I took special note of :
pencil grip
right or left hand
did he/she know the letters in own name
"Hippos in a Hut" visited at the end of morning meeting today! We started with 5 hippos...
Some got a little sleepy and decided to take a nap in their hut! Our job was to figure out how many hippos were sleeping by counting how many hippos stayed out to play. How many are in the hut if 1 is left outside to play??? This is a tough concept to grasp, but we recalled what we had learned when we did this with dinosaurs, so we did a good job today. As the week goes on, we will add more hippos and continue to improve upon this early math skill!
Happy Birthday Blair! Thank you for sharing your special day with us!
It has been four weeks since we "planted" our bulbs, so today each friend took some time observing his/her bulb. He/she then drew a "week 4" picture of his/her bulb in his/her bulb journal! We learned that all things in God's creation are unique! They may be the same kind of bulb, but each is different!
It may have been wet, but the rain was gone!!!
Time for small groups (centers)!
We drew our fourth quarter self portraits! He/she got to look at his/her picture on his/her name tag. We also remembered there may be more to each of us than just what we can see in the picture...maybe...legs and feet too! Not only are are we improving writing/drawing skills, we are also learning self awareness!
With Mrs. Dose, we improved our number recognition, matching, and spatial reasoning skills as we put together a Dr. Seuss number puzzle!
Woo Hoo! We finished it today...
We enjoyed a Veggie Tales dance party!
Eli returned the favorite book bag today! He shared with us "Don't Push the Button! A Halloween Treat". We loved hearing from Eli about his favorite part of the book, and seeing his drawings. We then enjoyed listening as Mrs. Mudd read it to the class!
This activity is one way to encourage the love of reading. Also, this activity allows the children (and teacher) to be introduced to new books! Furthermore, it helps to continue to build home and school connections!
On our way to the gym, we thought the 5th grade planet projects were amazing!!!
Run, run, and run some more!!!
During Jesus Time today, we remembered that the Holy Spirit is with us! To help us spread the Good News that Jesus died and rose again to save us from our sins. Jesus wants ALL people, all around the world, to know about His great love from them!
Thanks for stopping by...
