After all those snow days...our week has started off great in preschool!
A couple of reminders...
Valentines to give to Friends...Our class will have our valentine parties this Thursday, February 10 and Friday, February 11. Each child has made a valentine bag, at school. Please have your child prepare 20 valentines at home (1 for each child in the class) and bring them to school this week, on 2/10 or 2/11. See email sent on Friday, 1/14 with additional details and tips!
There is NO school on Friday, 2/18 and Monday, 2/21!
Onto our day...
Emma and Thea planned and worked together to get the ramp to work "just right"!
Success...
With our snow days last week, we were excited to find we had more paper hearts to cut and decorate! A fun way to strengthen the finger, wrist, and hand muscles while improve scissor cutting skills...
Briella was hard at work decorating her birthday crown for later this week!
Woo Hoo!!! Tricky Mouse is back!!! This week he brought cards with lowercase letters on them!!! He hid under different letters and we did our best to find him. Success for some was knowing each letter. Success for others was knowing some of the letters. While success for a few was getting help with the letters from a friend!
Lucas returned the favorite book bag today! He shared with us "Tractor Mac You're a Winner". We loved hearing from Lucas about his favorite part of the book, and seeing his drawings. We then enjoyed listening as Mrs. Mudd read it to the class.
This activity is one way to encourage the love of reading. Also, this activity allows the children (and teacher) to be introduced to new books! Furthermore, it helps to continue to build home and school connections!
We have begun a project all about camping! We began to transform the block center and dramatic play area into a campsite! But first, we enjoyed an adventure with Blippi to see what he knows about camping...
We then decided we needed a "campfire" at our campsite. So, we found on on the smartboard, since it's not safe to have a real fire in our classroom...
Then...we took off on an adventure to find rocks/stones to have a pretend campfire inside...
We're excited to gather logs and sticks once the snow melts!
With Valentine's day around the corner, we talked as a group about "places we love". Here are just a few that we came up with today!
We were excited to survey the class to find out "Have You Ever Been Camping?"
We then improved our early math skills as we counted the total number of stickers in each column. Even without counting we could tell that, so far, "yes" had more than "no"!
Time for small groups (centers)!
Each friend took a little time to let me know what he/she already knows about camping!
With Mrs. Dose we improved our one to one correspondence, small motor control, and strengthened the finger, wrist, and hand muscles! Each card had a different number of hearts on it. Each friend counted his/her hearts then added that same number of clothespins to that card. Success for some was working with 1 - 10. Success for others was working with 1 - 20!
We enjoyed planning and working with others as we "camped out" at our campground! (Our snow days put us a little behind...a tent is arriving soon)
We ventured to the warm gym to get our wiggles out!
During Jesus Time today we learned of the Lost and Found Son. He chose to leave his family, but he foolishly spent all of his money from his father. He had no place to live and no food. He chose to return to his family. Instead of his father being angry with his poor choices, he welcomed him home and forgave him! We realized that sometimes it's easy to be selfish, but we need to remember to show God's love and always think of others when making choices!
Hope to see you again tomorrow!
