On to our day...

While others were enjoying free choice time, each friend began his/her day with a special check-in!  Each child completed his/her "March My Name" for his/her portfolio. We did great! While each friend wrote his/her name I took special note of :

pencil grip
right or left hand
copied name or wrote from memory

We noticed that we have started another new month...March!  So, we compared our weather pie graphs.  We decided that February weather was almost every type of weather. We had the most sunny days in February, but we had a lot of snowy days too!  Being able to compare is an early math skill.

To wrap up morning meeting, we "tested" what we remember about positional words!  But, before doing that we took a roll, counted or stated the number of dots, found that number on the paper, and I read to them the corresponding positional word.  Each friend then found their spot in Mudd's Music to "complete" his/her word!

Time for some...SCIENCE!!!

We had 5 glasses (1 small, 2 medium, and 2 big).  I "played" each cup, using the metal wand from the triangle.  When we listened, we decided that the 2 medium glasses made the same sound and the 2 big glasses made the same sound.  Then...I filled each glass with a different amount of water...

Prediction time...what will happen when we tap on each glass of water?

Time to test those predictions! We were surprised to hear that I could make music with the glasses now!  Since each was filled with a different amount of water, each glass now made a different sound.  Some higher and some lower!

Another day of sunshine means another day of great outside time!

Time for small groups (centers)!

Uh oh...I needed some help.  I had a bunch of pictures that got all mixed up!  Some were things that made soft sounds, some made loud sounds.  Thank goodness my friends were able to sort them in to loud vs. soft for me!  (Sorting is an early cognitive skill).

In our journals, each friend wrote words from our instrument word wall!  Not only improving letter recognition, but also his/her writing skills!

St. Patrick's day is just around the corner...so...time for some fun shamrock BINGO!!!  Find the match of what Mrs. Cooper was holding and cover with jewels. It was hard to find the some of the matches, they were quite similar!

We strengthened our finger, wrist, and hand muscles as we made instruments from playdoh!

We worked hard during small groups...so a little extra outside time was enjoyed by all!

During Jesus Time we remembered the story of the widow that gave her last 2 coins to church.  She didn't worry about not having anything left.  She knew Jesus would take care of her.  We know Jesus will take care of us here on earth and give us the riches of heaven!

Thanks for stopping by!

Can you figure out what each friend rolled today?

Yay for sunshine and blue skies for going outside!

St. Patrick's day is just around the corner...so...time for some fun shamrock BINGO!!!  Find the match of what Mrs. Dose was holding and cover with jewels. It was hard to find the some of the matches, they were quite similar!

We strengthened our finger, wrist, and hand muscles as we made instruments from playdoh!

And...time to get those wiggles out on the parking lot playground!

During Jesus time today Zippy came to visit and was a bit sad.  His mom had given him 2 quarters for Sunday School offering, but he kept one in his pocket to buy candy instead of giving both for the offering.  We reminded him that Jesus forgives him.  Jesus can give us a cheerful thankful heart that WANTS to give!  We learned that even if we give God everything we have, it is okay, because He will take care of us!

Have a great night!
