Welcome to our Thursday in Mrs. Mudd's class!
Our friends are excited to be learning how to use our new listening/reading center. Each friend can enjoy listening to/reading a book on CD. We are learning the proper way to read a book: front to back, and left to right. We are beginning to understand that letters make words, and words make a story. We are also improving our listening skills...we have to wait for the special sound that tells us when to turn the page! If a friend is waiting for a turn, he/she places his/her name tag on the table showing who is next!
The easel was back again...for one of our favorite things to do!

Lutheran High had their day of service today! My son, Sam, chose to help in our classroom for the morning! We LOVED having him here, and were a little sad when he had to go...
Today we introduced the letter "X"!
We remembered start your letter "at the top" then big line down diagonal, big line down diagonal to write an "X"! Then we came up with words that start with "X"! (We quickly learned it is hard to find words (that we understand) that start with "X"! So, we also thought of a few that have an "X" in it, or end in "X".)
Anytime one of our friends thinks of a word that starts with "X" we can add it to our big letter. Or, if at home, your child sees a small picture or item that starts with an "X", bring it in and he/she can tape it to our big letter!
Then we practiced writing "X" with crayons (nice and short to reinforce proper grip)!
Another perfect morning on the preschool playground, with an extra "big kid" to share in the fun!
Time for small groups (centers)!
We had to focus and use our best listening ears as we played a game of "Simon Says". It's hard to remember to only do an activity when you hear "Simon Says" first!
With Mrs. Dose we strengthened the finger, wrist, and hand muscles and improved shape recognition as we rolled playdoh with our hands and then formed different shapes (circle, square, triangle, rectangle, oval, and diamond) with the playdoh.
We realized that it is tough to get the wrappers off SOOO many straws! We are strengthening the finger and hand muscles used for writing while having fun with straws!
We have become experts at the "big" kid playground, knowing how to safely use equipment that is open for us...
During Jesus Time today we continued the story of the journey on the road to Emmaus, where people began finding out that Jesus was no longer in the tomb. Instead, He was ALIVE again!
