Thanks for checking out our Wednesday in preschool!
Here we go...
We had a special check-in today..."November My Name"! While each friend (not here yesterday) wrote his/her name I took note of pencil grip, copying name or writing name from memory, letter knowledge, etc. Our friends are getting better and better each month!!!
While our special check-in was happening...so was some awesome magnatile creating...they just keep getting fancier!
Three of the cutest bakers you'll ever meet!
We then finished up morning meeting with Wiggle Worm...he is back!!! Today he brought with him lowercase letters on cookies. If wiggle worm was picked from the bag...everybody WIGGLE, then stop! Having to stop is tough, but it helps us learn self regulation!
If a letter is picked, that friend told everyone the letter name and the letter sound!
Today we introduced the letters "H" and "T"!
We remembered start your letter "at the top" then big line down, big line down, little line across for the "H" and big line down, little line across the top for the "T"! Then we came up with words that start with "H" and "T"!
Anytime one of our friends thinks of a word that starts with "H" or "T" we can add it to our big letter. Or, if at home, your child sees a small picture or item that starts with an "H" or "T", bring it in and he/she can tape it to our big letter!
Then we practiced writing "H" and "T" with crayons (nice and short to reinforce proper grip)!
Another WARM, sunny morning to enjoy playing outside!
Time for small groups (centers)!
With Mrs. Fahey we worked on beginning letter sounds! Each friend received different cards, each with a letter and 2 pictures on it. He/she had to figure out which picture started with the letter on the card. Then, had to place a clothespin on that picture! Success for some was getting help from a friend or Mrs. Fahey. Success for others was figuring out the letter and sound on his/her own! Not only were we improving early literacy skills, we were improving small motor control too!
One of our final steps to our food project..."What do you know now about food?" I took dictation as each friend told me what he/she knows now about food!
We improved large motor control as we had a dance party to Veggie Tales music!
Once last chance to explore the beans in the sensory table!
Time to get the wiggles out...we had a lot of them today ;o)
During Jesus Time today we remembered everything that God did to keep Moses safe because He had a plan for Moses. He keeps us safe, because He loves us so much and has a plan for us too!
Have a great rest of your Wednesday!
