Monday, December 7, 2020

Welcome back to our Monday in Mrs. Mudd's class!

Two quick reminders...

11:50 Dismissal on Friday, December 18…Our class will dismiss at 11:50 on this day to begin Christmas break.  There is NO aftercare option, please make arrangements to pick up your child at 11:50 this day.  We will not be eating lunch at preschool, but we will have morning snack.

There is NO school Monday, December 21 - Friday, January 1…blessings on your Christmas Holiday! (school resumes on Monday, January 4, 2020).

Here we go...

While free choice was in full swing, I had some friends come over for a December interview!  I took dictation as I asked many questions about his/her thoughts and ideas about Christmas!

The "candy construction" building set was a big hit again today.  We had a great time expressing creativity and improving fine motor control while building with "candy"!

Our puppet theater was open for business! What a perfect way to act out feelings and emotions in a comfortable setting!

Abram enjoyed painting the nativity, he wanted to try and stay inside the lines!

We then finished up morning meeting with Wiggle Worm...he is back!!!  Today he brought with him uppercase letters on snowflakes.  If wiggle worm was picked from the bag...everybody WIGGLE, then stop!  Having to stop is tough, but it helps us learn self regulation!

If a letter is picked, that friend told everyone the letter name and the letter sound!

We dove into our question of the day...we enjoyed hearing stories of each of our picnic experiences!

Science Time!!

Scientist Mudd arrived and began making a solution with water, ammonia, bluing, and salt!
Then we stirred and stirred and stirred!!!

Scientist Mudd asked each friend what he/she thought would happen when we put a cardboard tree (eventually with green food coloring on it) in the solution...

Once again, scientist Mudd tricked the class!  Nothing happened, it just sat there!  Today we learned that some times things don't happen right away, we have to be patient and keep checking our tree over the next few days!

Then...we noticed we had a new friend in the classroom...ask your kiddo about Mrs. Dose's puppy!!!

After so much hard work this morning, we enjoyed getting time to run and climb outside!

Time for small groups (centers)!

We improved scissor cutting skills as we cut Christmas wrapping paper into small pieces!  We can then use these small pieces to create with as it gets a bit closer to Christmas!

We improved our writing (and reading) skills as we wrote in our journals.  Our friends were excited about the new Christmas words that we added to our word wall last week!

Then...we did 2 other centers...but, they are TOP SECRET! (You might get to find out about them on Christmas Day?!?!?)

Off to the parking lot playground for large motor time and a chance to plan and work with others!

During Jesus Time today we learned of the angel that appeared to the shepherds to share a special message from God. The angel told the shepherds that Jesus, the Savior, had been born that night and this special baby would grow up to save the whole world from sin. We remembered that Christmas is more than getting presents, it is a celebration of Jesus birthday! The best gift EVER!

Have a great night!
