It was a Monday full of excitement in preschool today!!!
One week of school left in 2018 AND a Christmas party!
A few reminders...
Christmas Service Project...Zion’s Early Childhood Program has been given the opportunity to show God’s love during this Advent/Christmas season. Our collection will be donated to Helping Hand-Me-Downs. The goal of this organization is “Building Stable Communities One Family at a Time.” When families are in need, Helping Hand-Me-Downs provides them with needed support. Families not only receive items necessary for caring for their children, they can also receive counseling support to help them find stability and independence. Bring your items to school this week, 12/17 - 12/21. The following items are needed the most:
- Gently used items (i.e. nothing new with tags) such as clothing (sizes preemie to 16-18 boys and girls), shoes, coats, toys, books, baby gear, etc.
- Cribs and unexpired car seats
- Laundry detergent, personal care items and cleaning supplies
12:00 Dismissal this Friday, December 21…School will dismiss at 12:00 this Friday to begin Christmas Break. There is NO half day care option, please make arrangements to pick up your child at 12:00 this day. We will not be eating lunch at preschool, but we will have morning snack.
There is NO school Monday, December 24 - Wednesday, January 2…blessings on your Christmas Holiday! (school resumes on Thursday, January 3, 2019).

Please note that enrollment will open to community families new to Zion on Sunday, January 27 at 5:00 pm. You will want to complete enrollment before that date to secure your spot for the upcoming year. In order to secure schedules for all families, there will be a $100 drop fee for any days dropped from ELP or Preschool after March 1st. This fee will be added to your SMART tuition account. You will receive additional enrollment information the first week of January.
And...on to our day...
We worked those fine motor skills while making stripes for our candy canes!
Writing and drawing skills at work while painting with water colors!
A little practice with social skills while visiting and comparing cars...
Creativity at it's best...making a bracelet, cutting, gluing, and drawing with "good junk"...
We worked on hand-eye coordination while building with blocks!
We read together "The Very Hungry Reindeer" by Mrs. Smith (currently a Zion kindergarten teacher). This "spin off" of "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" has this reindeer eating some silly Christmas things...and he turns into...RUDOLPH!!!
We enjoyed larger motor time outside, getting our wiggles out before the big party!
It's PARTY TIME!!!!
A big thank you to the parents and grandparents that were able to come help out today!
First a yummy snack...pretzel sticks and green icing! And.. a little something healthy to add to the mix...strawberries!
I think some of us REALLY liked the icing!!!
We enjoyed hearing all about how Pete the Cat saved Christmas!
Times for some fun activities!!!
So much fun getting to play Christmas BINGO!
We made nativity scene ornaments!
We loved the hot cocoa marshmallow toss!
There was even a little "pin the nose on the snowman"!
We wrapped up the party with a beautiful book all about the night baby Jesus was born!
After all that "partying" we headed outside for a bit of exercise and fresh air!
During Jesus Time today we learned about a very special star that led the three wisemen to baby Jesus. When they finally met him they brought gifts fit for a king: gold, frankincense, and myrrh! Mrs. Dose brought frankincense essential oil for us to discover what frankincense smells like!
Thanks for checking out our day!
