Happy Friday from Mrs. Mudd's class!

Our ladybug larvae are busy growing in their ladybug land! For those not here yesterday....here's a little bit about our ladybugs...

We had a special arrival to our classroom...ladybug larvae!!!  Over the next few weeks we will observe and complete a bit of journaling as metamorphosis takes place.  We are very excited to see the change from larvae, to pupa, to adult ladybugs! We learned that like all living things, the larvae need water to keep growing!  So...first, we added water to our special habitat. Then, we added the larvae and their food to our new "ladybug land"! Some of the day, our ladybug land will be on our cubbies to stay safe!  

But, it will be down for our friends to observe and see what's happening multiple times throughout each day!

 A simple egg carton with 2 dice in it!  Shake, shake, shake the carton and open it up (improving small motor control).  Then state or count the numbers of dots on the 2 dice.  Close it up...and shake, shake, shake it again!  Our friends enjoyed working on his/her own, or working with a friend (one shaker and one counter)!

Many friends have started to bring in items for our pet store (thank you)!  Here are some friends "driving" back from Disney World with animals they "bought" to have in our pet store!  It looks like we may have an "exotic" pet store under construction!

Then...after returning to St. Charles with the animals, they decided to travel back to Florida on a boat!  Here they are relaxing with a book while enjoying the boat ride!

 Reagan strengthens her finger and hand muscles as she had fun popping bubble wrap.

We sure had fun playing with friends on the big playground this morning!

One last day to brainstorm...what do we need to build our pet store?  We will begin "construction" on Monday!

One more day with the letter "Y"!  

We remembered start your letter "at the top" then little line down diagonal, big line down diagonal to write a "Y"! Then we came up with words that start with "Y"!

Anytime one of our friends thinks of a word that starts with "Y" we can add it to our big letter.  Or, if at home, your child sees a small picture or item that starts with a "Y", bring it in and he/she can glue it to our big letter!

Then we practiced writing "Y" with our special handwriting without tears crayons (nice and short to reinforce proper grip)! 

In our discussions about what we need in our pet store, we decided that if you work there, you need a nametag.  So, each friend made his/her employee nametag.  It will be laminated and then strung with yarn, so each has his/her own to wear when working at the store!

Time for small groups (centers)!

Last week a few friends noticed our tree was beginning to blossom...

So..we completed our 4th observational drawing (spring) of the tree outside our classroom!

"WE CAN READ!"

We found environmental print that we could "read" and improved our small motor control as we glued each to our paper.

We improved our writing skills as we wrote "spring" words (from our word wall) in our journals.

We then enjoyed large motor time outside on the preschool playground...

During Jesus Time today we tried to remember what we each had for breakfast.  We then talked about the word remember.  We don't always remember to make good choices.  We don't always remember to be good listeners.  But, that's okay because God does remember to love us anyway!
