 It was a bit of a wacky Wednesday!!!

Time to get that creativity flowing as we painted with watercolors...

and magnatiles...

And focused our attention on "fishing" at the lake!

Some friends were wanting to roll the round jewels around the classroom, but we decided that wasn't safe. So, check out what we came up with...they had a BLAST!

Mrs. Mudd had 8 bugs. We took a minute to talk about each one and "lock" them in our brains! Then while hidden under a towel, Mrs. Mudd took away 2 items! Our friends' job was to recall what was missing ! We did AWESOME today, didn't miss even once. Recognizing and recalling is an early cognitive skill.

Today we introduced the letter "K" and number "8"!  

We remembered start your letter "at the top" then big line down, little line diagonal, little line diagonal to write a "K" and make an "S" and go back home to write an "8"! Then we came up with words that start with "K" and found "8's" around the room!

Anytime one of our friends thinks of a word that starts with "K" we can add it to our big letter.  Or, if at home, your child sees a small picture or item that starts with a "K", bring it in and he/she can tape it to our big letter!

Then we practiced writing "K" and "8" with crayons (nice and short to reinforce proper grip)!

So...a feels like of 10 had us headed to the commons for large motor time...

Time for small groups (centers)!

With Mrs. Fahey we strengthened the finger, wrist, and hand muscles squeezing dots of glue on our blue paper.  We then improved small motor control as we glued each end of 6 strips of paper to our blue rectangle.  As we glued each end, we also practiced our counting skills, using the "rule of 10". Hold the paper while you count to 10!  And...voila...we created 3D rainbows!!!

With Mrs. Mudd, we talked about having a "camping night" and wondered how our families will know they are invited.  Well, of course, we need invitations!  So, we worked as a group, making an invitation that will be sent home, inviting each family to our camping night! (No worries...I will also send an email soon with detailed information ;o))

Our job...make a tower of cups as tall as you!!! Great for problem solving, hand-eye coordination, and small motor control!

We improved small motor control while improving letter and number recognition.  One half of an egg had an uppercase letter and we found the lowercase match...or one half had a number and we found the match that had that number of dots.  We then had to push the 2 halves of the egg together to make a whole egg!

Off to the gym we went to get our wiggles out before lunch!

During Jesus Time we heard the story of the widow's mite. She had very little to give, but she gave all that she had. That meant more to Jesus than all of the riches received from those you had so much.
