We had a fun Tuesday in preschool

Two quick reminders...

Zion Open House is Thursday, November 18...Do you know an ELP, Preschool or Kindergarten family interested in enrollment at Zion next year? Zion is hosting an Open House event on Thursday, November 18th from 5pm - 7pm. This is a great time to come see the school and meet the teachers. Tours will be available by appointment only. Please see Sycamore for additional information.

There is NO school Monday, 11/22 - Friday, 11/26…Professional development for teachers and Happy Thanksgiving!

On to our day...

We had a special check-in today..."November My Name"!  While each friend wrote his/her name I took note of pencil grip, copying name or writing name from memory, letter knowledge, etc.  Our friends are getting better and better each month!!!

We noticed that our weather tally sheet now said November and it was empty, and the October pie graph was filled in!  We studied more, less, and the same (equal) as we compared the 3 months we've filled in so far this school year!  Understanding more, less, and the same is an early math skill!

We then finished up morning meeting with Wiggle Worm...he is back!!!  Today he brought with him uppercase letters on milk cups.  If wiggle worm was picked from the bag...everybody WIGGLE, then stop!  Having to stop is tough, but it helps us learn self regulation!

If a letter is picked, that friend told everyone the letter name and the letter sound!

We headed to chapel in the sanctuary today where Pastor Rouland reminded us that we are all Saints because we are God's children!

Instead of traditional centers...

Real bakeries make cupcakes, so we made our very own cupcakes today!

We learned...

We had to follow the directions...

Measuring the correct amounts of water, oil, and eggs is very important if we want our cupcakes to be yummy!

We all gathered around to see how a hand mixer works...we did a great job with listening, making sure to keeps our fingers away from the beaters!

Then we filled the cupcake papers...and Mrs. Mudd took them down to the kitchen to bake in the oven!

While the cupcakes were baking we enjoyed some cold, fresh air outside getting our wiggles out!

Just about 20 minutes later...

Viola...check out our cupcakes fresh from the oven!
We knew that something was missing...ICING!  But, we decided we better wait until the cupcakes cool so the icing doesn't melt!

And...time to improve small motor control as we stirred food coloring in white icing!  We wanted to have colorful cupcakes!

And the final step in making the perfect cupcake (and more small motor control fun)...icing our very own cupcake!

They turned out GREAT...and for all their hard work...we had them for desert at lunch!!!
We had so much fun icing our cupcakes and then getting to eat any extra icing left in his/her bowl!

Finally...some more outside time to get our bodies moving and enjoy some fresh air!

Or...checking on their cupcakes ;o)

Mia has fun as photographer today...

Thanks for stopping by!
